5 CHEAPEST CITIES OF EUROPE

5. Budapest, Hungary

The beautiful capital of Hungary, Budapest, has a lot of activities for those travelers at a LOW PRICE. You should know that much of the most expensive tourist action is centered along the river bank of the Budapest River. But it is FREE to explore on foot and visitors can even enjoy free excursions guided by expert guides.

On the other side of the Danube, the beautiful bastion of the fishermen has stunning panoramic views of the city and offers free admission between mid-October and mid-March. Of course, a trip to Budapest would not be complete without going through one of its famous thermal baths. Széchenyi bathrooms are a perfect option at a reasonable and beautiful price.

4. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague's reputation as the center of many bachelor parties may have increased the cost of a trip to the Czech Republic in recent years. In fact, according to Euromonitor International, it is now the fifth most visited destination in Europe. However, there is still much to do in the "City of One Hundred Needles" without spending a fortune.

Some points of interest such as the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square are a must on any visitor's itinerary. You can also find all kinds of food and drinks to take away from the historical center of Prague in neighborhoods such as the trendy Žižkov neighborhood. There is also a lot of public art in Prague.

3. Vilnius, Lithuania

It is significantly less touristy than many other cities in Eastern Europe. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is one of the best low-cost destinations in the Baltic countries. There are a lot of free things to do in a city unknown to most.

You will enjoy one of the best cheap destinations in Europe by taking a simple stroll through its historic old town, which houses extravagant places like Užupis, a "republic" of artists with their own anthem and constitution. You can also see the Literatu Street Project, an artistic tribute to the great Lithuanian writers.

In Vilnius, even activities that are not free are not so expensive. For example, the entrance to the Gediminas Tower, with its beautiful views over the capital, costs only € 4.

2. Krakow, Poland

Famous for its historical monuments and architecture, such as the beautiful Wawel Castle, dating back to the 11th century, and the magnificent medieval square of the Old City. Visiting Krakow is becoming a must on the itinerary of many European travelers in recent years.

One of the main attractions of the former royal capital of Poland is its bustling and often very affordable nightlife. Krakow is said to be a place with one of the highest densities of bars and pubs in the world, mostly grouped around the Old Town and the historic Kazimierz district. And according to the Go Euro 2015 Beer Price Index, the city also has some of the cheapest beers on the continent.

1. Riga, Latvia

Full of eclectic historic buildings, it is not surprising that Latvia's vibrant capital, Riga, is often hailed as an architectural pearl. Nowhere is this more evident than in its charming Old Town. There restaurants can be typically expensive, but many of their attractions are relatively cheap to visit. For example the Porcelain Museum, celebrating the heritage of the Riga porcelain industry or the peculiar Museum of the Sun and the beautiful Church of San Pedro.

Get lost for hours at the legendary Riga Central Market and enjoy an affordable meal, made locally, such as pickled cucumber and smoked eel. You can also stroll through the old city to Bastejkalns Park to enjoy a picnic when the weather permits.
